Currently the only quail scalder being produced in the United States. Industrial Duty scalding pot is over 1/8" thick and nearly 3/16" thick (.16 actual). Top quality dial control unit with LED indicator light, lets you clearly see the set temperature and when the heat element is on with the red LED indicator light. This quail scalder holds up to 4 gallons of water, Perfect for scalding chickens at 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Just fill it with water, plug it in, and turn it on to the desired temp. Easy to use control unit for adjusting up to 180 degrees. Ideal for dipping birds to loosen feathers prior to plucking at 145 degrees. Also ideal for sealing and shrinking quail shrink bags. We recommend shrink bagging your quail at 180 degrees. Included quail skimmer makes it a breeze to place the quail in and out safely and to stir the quail while scalding for a nice even scald.
The trick to a good plucking is a thorough, accurate scald. This unit works great when you have quail, and similar small birds. With a round 4-gallon capacity you can fit 6+ quail at a time with ease. Heavy-duty, 120-volt 1,000-watt heating element for heating and fast heat recovery. Gets up to temperature fast as ours has a lid with handle to keep the heat in, along with a powerful stainless steel heating element and heavy-duty electronics. Will take 15 minutes to 45 minutes to get to 145 degrees depending on your starting water and outside temps. Will work with a 15-amp 120-volt breaker.
It measures 20 inches tall with lid x 13 inches wide with handles x 14 inches deep overall. Pot inside diameter 10 inches wide by 12 inches deep. Weighs approximately 9 pounds empty. Designed to be set on a sturdy tabletop so you can easily lift in and out birds with the included quail skimmer. Includes detailed instructions "which must be read and followed prior to use".
